Thinking about this online guitar course?

  • What kind of acoustic guitar do I need for this course?

Any acoustic guitar will do. You can use a classical guitar with nylon strings or a dreadnought with metal strings – either way, we’ll help you set it up before you play with the correct hold, posture and tuning.

  • Does this course include song tutorials?

Yes. As well as guidance on how to play in different styles like the 12-bar blues, we also share popular songs that cover what you’ve learned in some of the modules. More than anything, we encourage you to learn the songs you love to listen to – or even write your own.

  • Is this course only for acoustic guitarists?

We’ve developed this course specifically for the acoustic guitar. While all guitars use similar concepts and theory, acoustic playing is very different in style to electric. So we’ll be focusing on acoustic techniques and genres.

  • Will we learn fingerpicking?

Fingerpicking is just one of the many strumming techniques we’ll look at during this course, which not only teaches you the basics and how to play with patterns, but also gives you the chance to shape your own style.

  • Is it hard to learn the acoustic guitar?

All instruments have a learning curve and can be challenging at different times, but by establishing the right techniques, following our expert guidance and keeping motivated, you’ll find the fun in playing at all stages.

  • Will this course include Blues?

We do include a brief overview of Blues music in the final module of this course, which not only gives you a great introduction to the structure of this style, but can start you on your journey with Blues music in general.

  • Will I need to know any music theory?

We’ll touch on elements of music theory during this course. These give context to some of the chords and scales you’ll be learning, but you won’t need to know about music theory before you start.

  • Will I learn any acoustic guitar licks and soloing?

Absolutely. We’ll begin by looking at flares, riffs and licks to embellish your playing, and will also explore the minor pentatonic scale – the foundation to solo playing which enables you to create lead parts of your own.

  • Will this course help me learn covers?

We’ve packed this course with all the fundamentals of acoustic guitar playing, so you’ll discover lots about dynamics, rhythm, riffs and strumming techniques. These improve your abilities and are useful for playing covers, as well as developing your own playing.
