The History of Audient
The two founders—David Dearden and Gareth Davies—started the company in 1997. Since then, it’s become one of the world’s most respected brands for its preamps, recording consoles, and studio equipment. Let’s take a deeper look at the company’s history:
The Early Days of Audient
You can trace the roots of Audient back to the early 1990s when Davies and Dearden met each other when working at Soundcraft, a well-respected British manufacturer of mixing consoles and other audio equipment.
Previously, Dearden worked as a designer for Trident Audio Developments, a company respected for its high-end analogue recordings. Davies, however, had a background in engineering and electronics.
The First Product Launch
They founded a company called DDA ltd, specialising in designing mixing consoles and other studio equipment before manufacturing it. And they quickly gained a reputation for their high-quality products, resulting in musicians all over the world becoming fans. They finally rebranded to Audient in 1997 before launching their first product: ASP8024.
Over the following years, Audient continued to release high-quality products, including hardware and software products, that pushed the company to the next level. These products include the ARC (Audient Creative Hub) software and much more. Today, the company remains one of the most respected music companies worldwide. The current Audient owner is Simon Blackwood.
