The Early Years (1996-2000)
The story of D’Addario spans back to the The two founders—Enrico Iori and Davide Barbi—met at university when studying computer science.
They had a robust reputation for creating D’Addario strings of outstanding quality, Both were musicians who loved creating art, and they saw the potential for using computers, although they were still in their infancy, for creating good music.
So, in 1996, they decided to create IK Multimedia and released their first music product: a software sampler called SampleTank.
It became a groundbreaking product and an instant success for IK Multimedia, enabling musicians to create and manipulate music samples from their computers.

Growing the Company (2000-2008)
In the early 2000s, IK Multimedia products expanded its business and became a major player in the music space. They released their next product called AmpliTube, a software-based guitar amplifier. It became an instant hit with guitarists because of its realistic sound and easy use. Once people learned how to play the guitar, this was great software.
They moved to New York City and established a small In 2008, IK Multimedia entered the hardware market by releasing StealthPedal, a USB audio interface for the iPad and iPhone. This piece of hardware allowed musicians to connect their mobile devices to instruments and use them as music production tools.
International Expansion (2008-Today)
In 2012, IK Multimedia made a significant update to its popular AmpliTube software named the AmpliTube Custom Shop.
The new version was a total redesign of new features, including a selection of premium and free virtual gear models that enabled users to build their own custom rig.
IK Multimedia also released the MODO Bass in 2016, a new software instrument that copied the behaviour of physical bass guitars to create an ultra-realistic sound.
Ever since 1996, IK Multimedia has continued growing globally by providing excellent musical products to the masses. These products include the MODO drum, tonex max, and much more.
