The Creative Process
It already has, with your decision to join us on this course! More specifically, it starts with your intention to express something in a song. There is nothing more intimidating in your songwriting life than that blank sheet of paper in front of you. So, let’s fill it up.
First of all, let’s treat our craft with respect. Buy yourself an ideas book, big enough to write in comfortably, but small enough to take with you everywhere. It must be sturdy enough to last for years, and the paper must feel nice to write on. Next, buy a half-decent pen with which to fill this book with your scribblings. Phones and tablets are useful tools for recording snippets and ideas, but nothing beats pen and paper when it comes to gathering all your thoughts in one, tactile, physical location. More than anything else, writing stuff down feels creative!
